Yihao Zhao
Artist and photography exploring the interplay of entropy, materiality, and post-human ecosystems through photography and installation. The work interrogates industrial decay as a site of ecological reclamation, capturing rusted machinery, fractured concrete, and botanical incursions into urban ruins.By framing derelict objects as collaborators in nature’s re-composition,Yihao challenges anthropocentric narratives, revealing how corroded steel mimics coral growth and plastic debris morphs into synthetic flora.

The Book of Ice

"The Book of Ice" combines ice sculptures and old photographs to explore personal and collective memory during China's transformative period from 1960 to 1990.The translucent yet impenetrable ice symbolizes the complexity of memory and generational communication barriers, while the melting process reflects memory's fragility and impermanence.Centered on the artist's grandfather's life, the project intertwines individual experiences with historical context, urging viewers to cherish and actively preserve fleeting memories across generations.
