Yihao Zhao
Artist and photography exploring the interplay of entropy, materiality, and post-human ecosystems through photography and installation. The work interrogates industrial decay as a site of ecological reclamation, capturing rusted machinery, fractured concrete, and botanical incursions into urban ruins.By framing derelict objects as collaborators in nature’s re-composition,Yihao challenges anthropocentric narratives, revealing how corroded steel mimics coral growth and plastic debris morphs into synthetic flora.

This project focuses on the materialized aspects of plants, forests, and the ecosystems they inhabit. It will be presented as a series of images that incorporate fundamental elements of ecosystems, such as wind, fire, dew, rivers, decay, rebirth, death, and cycles.Additionally, the images will include human portraits that embody plant-like qualities.Through the exploration of these traces,I aim to investigate the processes of growth and death, the interdependencies and symbiotic relationships between species, and the cycles of decay and renewal.
